One of the most remarkable chapters in Bank of Buffalo's history came during the Great Depression. According to the bank's 100th Anniversary booklet published in 2001, founder E.S. Ferrill believed in conservative lending and truly knowing his customers. Most of his borrowers were local farmers, and rather than encouraging risky loans, he helped families borrow only what they could realistically repay.
That careful approach allowed Bank of Buffalo to weather difficult economic times while many other businesses around Buffalo disappeared.
It's a philosophy that still rings true today—building relationships first and helping customers make sound financial decisions.
